Build Action = CONTENT for .VIEW files

Mar 29, 2010 at 11:49 PM

Although not a major issue, .view files by default don't get published when doing a PUBLISH from vs 2008

You need to set the build action to CONTENT

I think this needs to be set by default and CHECKED IN to the codeplex repository

The View files by default should not even be part of the project in reality, because the themes are really add-ons to Graffiti, not part of the core solution. The theme that you choose for your site is going to get changed much more often than you publish the whole site (hopefully), so it really is just a simple matter of copying the theme folder out if you need to.

Also, theme files (views AND css) will be modified and stored in the database if you make use of the built-in theme editor in the Graffiti admin, so these files are not really going to be kept in sync in your development area anyways. Copying your themes folder out with the rest of the project if code updates are made is actually a really bad idea because of this, and I would make the case that it would be better if the entire "themes" folder were to be marked as "Do Not Copy" in the solution.
