Upgrading a Graffiti Database

You must follow this procedure if:
  • You are upgrading from Graffiti 1.1 or lower.
  • You are upgrading to Graffiti 1.3 or higher and are currently using VistaDB.
Note: If you are not using VistaDB, no database upgrade is required when upgrading Graffiti from version 1.2 to 1.3.

Use the DataMover.exe utility to migrate your database to or from one of the following platforms:
  • VistaDB (do not migrate to this platform, not compatible with 1.3 or higher)
  • Microsoft Access (32 bit app pool required)
  • MySQL
  • SQL Server 2000/2005/2008
Note: When converting from between platforms, you will need to change your database connection string. See Configuring Database Providers for details.

SQL Server and MySQL

You can upgrade your database by running upgrade scripts or using the DataMover utility.

Procedure

1. Back up your database.

2. Do one of the following:

To run the upgrade script:
  • SQL Server located in /Data/Utility/SQL_1.1_Upgrade.sql.
  • MySQL located in /Data/Utility/MySql_1.1_Upgrade.sql.
When the script is complete, the database upgrade is complete. You do not need to complete the remaining steps.

To run the DataMover utility:
  • From the parent file of your upgraded version of Graffiti, navigate to \Data\Utility\Migrations.
Complete the remaining steps of this procedure.

3. Double-click DataMover.exe to launch the application. The Data Mover screen opens.
