Creating a Graffiti Chalk extension

Jan 28, 2010 at 3:01 PM

I am trying to create my first chalk extension, and I am following this example:

http://stevesmithblog.com/blog/graffiti-cms-extension-for-dotnetkicks/

I *think* I did everything right, my extension compiles, put the DLL in my /web/bin directory, but when I try to use the exentsion, I just see the actual syntax, instead of the output I expected.

I assume I am missing a simple step, but what is it?

i.e. I actualy see "$promote.DotNetKicks($post.Url)" in my post, instead of what it is supposed to do...

Related question: if the extension gets installed properly, will it show up automatically on the drop-down menus of the control-panel view editor?

Edit: Never mind, turns out capitalization matters.....duh.

I had

[Chalk("promote")]

public class promote

in my code, but was trying to use it as $Promote.....
