Ordinary Content Pages Without blog

Feb 11, 2010 at 8:34 AM

Hi, I want to create pages for a portfolio type site and want pages that have no blog posts similar to this site:

Pages with just a title, text and images in the content.

I want to have a blog page also but other pages that do not, how is this done?

Does this have to be customized in the source code?

If you don't put the pages in a category, then they won't show up in a list on that category (e.g. Blog) page.  Then, if you want the pages in your navigation, all you have to do is go to Presentation > Navigation in the Graffiti admin, change the tab on the left to "Posts", select your post, and then click "Add to Navigation".

Is that what you are looking for?

Hi Thanks for reply,

I just basically want to know how i add a new page with a main link on the top main navigation for (e.g) ABOUT US. the page will have a title saying About us, and the content will have text that does not relate to any posts and there are no dates or anything associated with it. Right now it says:

"Entries categorized 'About'". and when i write text to this page users can comment on it and the titles on the page are posts where users can click on, I do not want this, I want this only for my blog page but all the rest i just want simple website content pages.

Do you see the way this site has content pages instead of blog pages. This is what i cannot figure out how to do this.

The main navigation would be like:

Home, About, Blog and, Contact

All pages except Blog i want to have just normal content pages that is made up of just a title that links to nothing and text and images that have no links to comments or any other postes.

Then you just need to do what I said above.  To get rid of the comments and things like that, you just need to create a new view in Customization > Themes > [your theme] > Personalize.  Copy the contents of post.view and put it into a new view called  After you've done that, then make the changes to post.view to have the other pages on the site work how you want them to.

For the home page, all you need to do is create another view called home.view and set up the content for that however you want it as well.

I was just wondering after I Copy the contents of post.view and put it into a new view called how to i assign it to the blog page.

That is handled automatically bu the Graffiti code - check out the last two links I provided for an explanation of how the views work.
